Author : Hikosuke Tamasu
Comments : Biographical account of Mr Tamasu, who is TT equipment manufacturer and administrator. There is a lot of information on the history of World Table Tennis. .
Author : Desmond Douglas
Comments : The eleven times English National Singles Champion writes his only book, ghosted by Richard Eaton. An interesting text but nothing revolutionary. Disappointing photos. Written shortly after the English Legend became the first man ever to win 19 out of 19 in a European Team Championship (Still a Record)
Author : George Smith
Comments : A home produced duplicated effort. Some good original ideas on changing the game – but mostly filled with some not so good ideas. It was at this time that TV coverage was dropping, wet glues had been introduced, long pimple rubbers were the subject of much criticism, and as a spectacle the game was at a low point. There was considerable deliberation on the future of the game in general. What’s new?
Author : Isobel Wilcox
Comments : Somewhat of a dubious entry, but under the introductory definition I suppose it has to be included. This is a look at the many wide ranging sports and recreational activities undertaken by the youth of China. The book has only a passing reference to the game of Table Tennis.
Author : Jack Carrington
Comments : Yet another reprint of the eighth edition. Only the advertisements alter – previously a reprint seemed a good excuse for a price increase but now these are implemented with small sticky labels
Author : Various Chinese Coaches
Comments : A compilation of coaching articles by several top Chinese coaches. How hard it is to be critical of the top coaches on earth, but some of the doctrines do seem strange.
